My soon to be wife and I met Stan in 1994 and we were immediately drawn to him because of his warm and welcoming personality.  He welcomed us into his wood shop on more than one occasion and was so gracious and happy to talk about his artistry in wood.  I never knew there were so many varieties of wood.  My favorite was Bubinga wood.  Stan had pieces of them all and was happy to share his knowledge and passion.  

Stan made pens for me to give my groomsmen as gifts on my wedding day.  I proudly have mine on my desk along with Stan’s business card, Designs in Wood.   I never saw Stan again after my wedding in 1994, but often thought of him.  That’s the impact he had on others.   I’m saddened to learn of his passing but warmed by his longevity.

Stan will always be remembered as a gentlemen, a friend and a class act.  His legacy will live on in his art work and beautiful woodworking projects he donated to our Cascades community .
The day after he passed on a Zoom meeting we kept hearing bells, we all were sure that it was an angel getting their wings and that it was Stan.    May he rest in peace.

My condolences to Joan and the whole family on the loss of a great man, husband, father, grandfather and friend.  Some of us are lucky to know someone who if it wasn't for that person we wouldn't be where we are today.  That person for me was Stanley.  I met Stan in 1989 when I was 17 years old.  If there was one word my teenage self could use to describe him it would be class.  I remember him always smiling, laughing, engaging and not to mention had the best penmanship.   As I went through college Stanley and we continued our friendship.  When I neared graduation and majoring in Economics he encouraged me to get my insurance license, which I did.  Soon after I got my first job at American Express Financial Advisors.  Ultimately, like Stanley, I went on to own my own business.   Whether it was making crafts for him to sell at craft fairs or reviewing insurance cases, the time I spent with Stanley will always be cherished.  His personality was gravitating and vibrant.  I would be remiss if I didn't mention Joan.  They say behind every great man is a greater women and Joan is just that!  Together they raised a great family and I know how proud he was to be a grandfather.  I am such a better person for having been his friend.  Stanley E. Graff was one of a kind.   Thank you Stan!!
