Sydell Katcher

Sydell Katcher, 69, passed away of an aneurysm on Monday, September 16, 2013, at Joe Raso Hospice House. She is survived by her children, Robin and Neil, sister, Zandra, and grandchildren, Henry and Evelyn. She is reunited with her dear husband, Howard, who died in 1990. Sydell was a loving mother, a kvelling grandmother, a deeply generous friend and a stand-up comedian who used the world as her stage, but mostly preferred to sit. As a devoted art teacher in the New York City school system for over 30 years, Sydell was a mentor for her students and an entertainer to her colleagues. She is the Founder and only member of The Katcher Foundation for Whatever You Want and Author of the unpublished memoir, Healthy But Ugly. She will be greatly missed. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 18th, 2013 at 9:00am at Hellman Memorial Chapels, 15 State Street, Spring Valley NY. Interment to follow at New Montefiore Cemetery, Farmingdale, NY. The family will be receiving visitors.
