

Bernard (Bud) is survived by his wife, Sharon (Stolle) Werling; daughters, Michelle Rodgers and Kathy (Steve) Verdes; sons Doug (Amy) Werling and David (Diana) Werling; grandchildren, Kayla (Tyler) Wise, Ashley (David) Torchia, Philip (Alison) Verdes, Abby (Michael) Castleman, Lexi (Matt) Smith, Lauren Verdes & future grandson Noah Ballard, Alex Rodgers, Gabi Werling, Jake Werling, Isaac Werling, Grace Werling, and Sadie Werling; great-grandchildren, Collins Wise, Felix Wise and Shay Torchia; sisters, Norma (Sam) Moorman, Mary Ann Werling; brothers, Jim Werling, Ed (Sally) Werling, Fred (Jorg Scheering) Werling
He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Albert & Eleanor Werling and mother and father in-law, James & Jean Stolle; sister in-laws, Marilyn Werling, Bernadette Tronzo; brother in-law, Richard McCauley; son-in-law, Mark Rodgers.
Bud was born in Burkettsville, OH and attended St. Henry High School graduating Valedictorian. He holds a BS Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Dayton and was a State Registered Professional Engineer in Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky along with several other states. He was also a member of the Airforce Reserve.
Bud Werling was a Partner at Heapy Engineering for 42 Years, serving as Director of Electrical Engineering, responsible for developing companywide standards, training programs and providing his expertise on challenging projects.
Bud’s passion was providing electrical education and he served for many years as the Adequate Wiring Committee of Miami Valley Chairman, developing multiple electrical classes for the Dayton area electrical industry. This grew into being one of the founding fathers of the Joint Venture Electrical Seminar, in conjunction with the SW-IAEI and GCEA, which is now almost 20 years of providing education for the Southwest Ohio region approaching over 2500 individuals that have attended classes!
Bud was instrumental in having a State of Ohio House Bill passed recognizing Electrical Week each year in the State. State-wide service included being a member of the State Electrical Safety Inspector Advisory Board.
Bud was recognized for his contributions in the Miami Valley region by receiving the Masters Electrical Contractors Association Marvin O’Cull Award for Meritorious Electrical Service and the Adequate Wiring Committee’s Electrical Person of the Year Award during his career.
His service to the local electrical industry will be missed.
Prayers will be said at 10:15 a.m. on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at the Anderson Funeral Home-Springboro Chapel, 40 North Main Street, Springboro. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, 9579 Yankee Road, Springboro with Father Jerome Bishop as the celebrant. Interment with military honors will be at Calvary Cemetery in Kettering, Ohio. The family will receive visitors from 4:00- 7:30 p.m. on Monday, May 22, 2023, at the funeral home.
