

Alan was born April 23, 1955, in Centralia, IL, the son of John Lawrence and Lois June Bartel Peterson. He married the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Jan Bryan, on October 10, 2014, in Las Vegas, NV after reuniting in 1997.
Alan earned his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Illinois, Springfield. He was co-owner and operator of Domino Engineering in Taylorville, IL with his brother, Larry for over 40 years. Alan loved family gatherings, which included annual vacations to Cherokee Village in Arkansas, Jupiter, FL, and other Florida cities to enjoy the sunshine. Throughout his life, Alan continued to participate in sports and games he loved, including tennis, golf, Cardinals baseball, water skiing, boating, and an occasional family game of poker.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Sonja Miller.
Alan is survived by his wife, Jan Peterson of Springfield; siblings, Jan (Chuck) Briscoe of Cincinnati, OH, Larry (Kathy) Peterson of Taylorville, Kristen (Verne Uvodich) Wilson of The Villages, FL, and Erica Peterson of St. Louis, MO; brother-in-law, Bill Bryan of Waco, TX; two sisters-in-law, Jill (Bill) McDonald of Evansville, IN and Ulanda Bryan of Clinton, IL; sixteen very special nieces and nephews, Megan, Kelsey, Jonathan, Allison, Jennifer, Alicia, Angela, Leah, Reed, Eric, Chris, Heath, Kelly, Stephanie, Shelly, and Courtney; one uncle; five cousins; and the most recent love of his life, his beloved dog, Petie.
Per Alan’s request, Alan was an organ donor through the Gift of Hope. Cremation was provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 14, 2022, at the Prairie View Reception Center, 8865 State Route 4, Chatham, IL with Celebrant Judy Woerner officiating. Family and friends unable to attend may view the ceremony via live stream at here A memorial gathering will follow until 4:00 p.m. with refreshments.
