

He was born in Peoria on July 15, 1932, the son of Albert J. Sr. and Florence I. (Feuchter) Speck. Albert married Barbara Jean Bergevin in Peoria on June 2, 1956.
Albert graduated from Spalding Institute and later earned his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Bradley University. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. In his free time, Albert enjoyed camping with his family, sailing, running rivers and streams in a canoe or kayak, golfing, and fishing. Albert was a faithful member of Christ the King Catholic Church.
Albert was preceded in death by his parents; brother, James Speck; and two infant sons.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara; sons, Randy (Connie) Speck of Fort Myers, FL, David (Barbra) Speck and Douglas Speck, both of Springfield, and Steve Speck of Biloxi, MS; grandchildren, Michael (Katie) Speck and Timothy Speck; and two great-grandsons, Kai and Finley Speck.
Visitation: Family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 23, 2025, at Butler Funeral Home- Springfield, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield.
Mass of Christian Burial: 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 24, 2025, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 1930 Barberry Dr., Springfield, with Father Alex McCullough, celebrant.
Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
