

Alberta Mae Devore, 91, of Loami, died at 7:20 p.m. on Sunday, May 7, 2017, at Lewis Memorial Christian Village in Springfield. Alberta was born May 16, 1925 near Arthur, IL the daughter of William and Mildred Dippel. She started school in an Amish community in Cadwell, IL. Later that year the family moved to the Berlin area. She married Lyle Devore on December 24, 1940 in Bowling Green, MO, in a double wedding with his sister. He preceded her in death on July 27, 1998. Alberta was a member of Loami Christian Church where she was active with the Prayer Tea. She enjoyed gardening, volunteering at the Loami Food Pantry and spending time with her family. She was also preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Frances Walch and Rose Freitag. Alberta is survived by her son Kenneth (Lora) of Springfield; two daughters, Marilyn (Steve) McCunn of Lake Dallas, TX and Juanita (John) Watret of Waverly; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Betty (Charles) Winkler of New Berlin; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at McCullough-Delaney and Butler Funeral Home, 714 E Gibson Street, New Berlin, IL 62670. Funeral Ceremony: 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 12, 2017, at Loami Christian Church, with Rev. Charles Duggins officiating. Burial will follow in Sulphur Springs Cemetery.
