

She was born Sept. 19, 1916 in Springfield, to Calvin and Martha Hoffee Buecker. She married Frank W. Krell on July 2, 1938 and he preceded her in death Sept. 29, 1995. Her parents and her brother, Ralph Buecker also preceded her in death.
Alice attended Enos, Independence, and Trinity Grade Schools and graduated from Springfield High School. She was an accomplished pianist and played for the Springfield High School Choir and Orchestra. She began teaching piano lessons at age 16 and later in life taught piano in her home. She was active in 4-H and at age 17, was a representative to the 4-H Congress held in Chicago.
She and her husband farmed for four years at Alexander, IL and then moved to a farm north of Pawnee, IL where they lived for 35 years. They moved to Springfield in 1974. After her husband passed away, she moved into Concordia Village (Founders Wing) where she enjoyed her stay for 7 years. The past 8 years, she was a resident of the Regency Nursing Care where she was cared for by many loving and compassionate people.
Alice was a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Springfield, and a current member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Chatham where she served as the church organist for several years.
She worked part time at various places. She worked at Lindley’s florist, was a substitute school bus driver, was a teacher’s assistant at Chatham Elementary School, worked at Myer’s Brothers, Land of Lincoln Insurance Co. and Skaggs Bridal Center.
Alice was a 4-H leader and a member of the Sangamon County Home Bureau. She and her husband volunteered many hours of service to Lutheran High School. They enjoyed many bus trips. Alice loved playing the piano, working with flowers, and spending time with her family.
Surviving is her son, Charles C. “Chuck” (wife Reva) Krell of Springfield, (formerly of Jacksonville), her daughter, Jan (husband Jerry) Parris of Sherman, 4 grandchildren, Heather Krell , Andy (wife Marilyn) Krell both of Springfield, Bill Chorn of Marietta, GA, and Amanda (husband Brad) Baughman of Sherman, 3 great grandchildren, Brittany Chorn, Taylor Bettis, and Zack Chorn, 2 sisters, Wilma Scaife of Springfield, and Jeanette (husband Bill) Maurer of Des Moines, IA, and her brother, Roger (wife Peggy) Buecker of Springfield.
Visitation will be from 4 pm Monday November 14, 2011 until time of funeral services at 7pm Monday in the Chapel of Concordia Village (on the Campus of Concordia Village 4101 W. Iles Springfield). Rev. Dr. Thomas G. Radtke, and Rev’s Clarence Rogers and Jonathan Vierkant officiating. Graveside services will be at 10 am Tuesday November 15, 2011 at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Springfield.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Lutheran High School, Trinity Lutheran School, Regency Care Employee Education Fund, or Concordia Village Residence Scholarship Project.
