

Alice E. McKeever Riley, 107, died Saturday, March 17, St. Patricks Day, at Sacred Heart Convent in Springfield, Illinois. Alice was born on June 17, 1910, in Pittsburgh, PA, the daughter of Thomas V. and Stella (Kennedy) McKeever. She married William Austin Riley on August 14, 1943 in Sebring, Florida. Alice was in the first graduating class of Mount Mercy College, now Carlow University, in Pittsburgh. Her degree was in Home Economics. She loved everything about being a nurturer as mother, homemaker and teacher. Sewing was her special art. Alices deep abiding faith led to many profound moments as she expressed her love of God and the Blessed Mother. She was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, Thomas, James, Dorothy, Regina and Mary Ruth; her beloved husband; her son-in-law, Stephen Seper; grandsons, Jeffrey and Charles Seper; and great-grandson, Grant Rowland. She is survived by her children, Alice (Daniel) Chambers, Catherine Seper, Sr. Rose Marie Riley, O.P., and William Austin (Donna) Riley; nine grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at Sacred Heart Convent on Wednesday, March 21 from 2:00-4:30 p.m., with a prayer service at 2:00. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 21 at 6:30 p.m. in the chapel of Sacred Heart Convent, with Fr. Peter Witchousky, celebrant. Graveside Ceremony will be held at Assumption Cemetery in Glenwood, IL on Thursday, March 22 at 11:00 a.m. with Deacon John Rangel officiating. Alices family is very grateful to the Dominican Sisters for the loving care extended to her in recent years.
