

Amy "Mildred" Marsh Jacobs, 94, of Springfield, died at 12:32 a.m. on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at Lewis Memorial Christian Village. Mildred was born October 20, 1921 in Curran, IL, the daughter of Nolan and Louise Bromley Smith. She married Eugene Marsh in San Diego in 1941; he preceded her in death in 1982. She later married John Jacobs in 1992 in Springfield; he also preceded her in death. From 1941-1945, Mildred worked for Consolidated Aircraft in San Diego, CA where she did electrical wiring in planes as part of the war support effort. She was a member of First Baptist Church where she attended Sunday services and Sunday school. Mildred loved gardening and always grew beautiful roses. She also enjoyed sewing and spending time with her grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Nolan "Bud" Smith; and a sister, June Ziegler. Mildred is survived by one daughter, Diane (Mike) Ryan of Springfield; two stepdaughters, Gloria Deatherage of Springfield and Beverly (David) Church of Branson, MO; four grandchildren, Michelle (Aaron) Nelson of Chatham, Cathy (Curt) Moffitt of Springfield, and Debbie (Eric) Wolf and David (Penny) Ryan, both of Chatham; nine great-grandchildren, Aaron, Andrew, Joshua, Annaleigh, Evan, Ethan, Samantha, Brady and Katie; two nieces; and several step-grand and great-grandchildren. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 9:30-10:15 a.m. on Friday, June 3, 2016 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Funeral Ceremony: 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 3, 2016 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, with Rev. David Church officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
