
Angelo A. Colantino, 87, of Springfield, died at 4:20 a.m., December 9, 2000 at St. Joseph's Home. He was born June 13, 1913 in Girard, Kansas the son of Joseph and Domenica Liberati Colantino. He later married Anne Poliskie in Springfield in 1940 and she survives. Mr. Colantino worked for 47 years with Pillsbury Corporation as a Machinist and a production engineer. He earned 22 U. S. Patents for innovative production machinery, including the design and production of the first automative machinery for pre-packaged bakery mixes in the United States. After retirement from Pillsbury, Mr. Colantino continued to consult Pillsbury and other corporations in design and development of machinery and production systems. Mr. Colantino had lived in Springfield most of his life. He was a founding member of the Anchor Boat Club, Charter member and past officer of the Roman Cultural Society, and a member of Christ the King Church. He was preceded in death by one brother: Guy Colantino, and one sister: Rose Mari. Mr. Colantino is survived by his wife, four sons: Robert (wife-Nancy) Colantino of Springfield, James (wife-Linda) Colantino of Portland, OR, Allyn (wife-Brenda) Colantino of Springfield, and Stephen (wife-Julie) Colantino of Springfield; two brothers: Mario Colantino of St. Louis, MO, and Victor Colantino of Providence, RI; and one sister: Anita Gurnsey of St. Louis, MO, and eleven grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Private family services will be held Tuesday at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home with the Rev. David Lantz officiating.
