

Angelo Mari, 98, of Springfield, died at 6:30 a.m. on Monday, July 27, 2009 at St. John's Hospice. Angelo was born December 23, 1910 in Springfield, the son of Mariano and Rose Cola Mari. He married Igina "Jeanette" Perna at St. Aloyisuis Catholic Church in Springfield. She preceded him in death in 2001. During WWII Angelo was a machinist at the Lincoln Ordinance Depot, south of Springfield. He also was a coal miner, working at the Jefferson and Peabody Coal Mines for twenty years. He was also a self-employed mason and worked for several local construction companies building homes on the west side of Springfield. Angelo was a former member of the K of C, Elks Club, and was presently a member of the Eagles Club. He is also preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Angela Mari; two sisters, Elizabeth Camille and Josephine Stewart; and a brother, Ernest Mari. He is survived by a son, Richard "Dick" (wife, Jacque) Mari of Boise, ID; a daughter, DeAnna (husband, Ted) Hutmacher of St. Augustine, FL; eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Albert Mari of Springfield; a sister, Rose Mudd of Louisville, KY; and several nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 31, 2009 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Funeral ceremonies will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 1, 2009 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home with Rev. Msgr. Thomas P. Holinga, V.F. officiant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
