Arthur C. "Chip" Lawson, 40, of Springfield, died on Friday, May 9, 2014 at his home. Chip was born on August 16, 1973 in Springfield, the son of Arthur T. and Delores Kloppenburg Lawson. Chip was a graduate of Lanphier High School in 1992 and was self-employed in lawn care and snow removal maintenance. He was an avid Illini and Chicago Cubs fan. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Art and Jean Lawson and Charles and Elizabeth Kloppenburg. He is survived by his parents, Art and Delores Lawson of Springfield; son, James Lawson; siblings, Colleen (husband, Erik) Helmerichs of Pleasant Plains and John (wife, Lauren) Lawson of Springfield; two nieces, Marisa and Alaina Helmerichs; two nephews, Carter and Hudson Lawson; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center following ceremonies. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 3:00 7:00 p.m. on Monday, May 12, 2014 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield.
