

August L. ''Bud'' Rechner, Jr, 87 of Springfield, passed away at 12:33 a.m. Thursday, March 22, 2001 at St. John's Hospital. August L. ''Bud'' Rechner was born August 28, 1913 the son of August and Helen Bansbach Rechner in Springfield. August graduated from Quincy Christian Brothers High School and attended Quincy College. He was co-owner of Rechner's Bakery and Grocery. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the 34th Infantry, 79th Division for four and half years where he received a Bronz Star Medal. He was a member of Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church and a Eucharistic Minister. He was also a member of Elks. He is preceded in death by his parents, four sisters: Cecelia Cusick, Marie Rechner, Helen Getzendanner, Anna Rechner; four brothers: William A. Rechner, Albert C. Rechner, Joseph H. Rechner and Otto F. Rechner. He is survived by his brother Fred (wife, Mary Evelyn) Rechner of Springfield; several nieces and nephews; several great nieces and nephews. Friends may call at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home from 4-7:00 p.m. Sunday March 25, 2001 with a wake service beginning at 4:00 p.m. Concelebrated Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 26, 2001 at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church with Reverend Frank O'Hara Principal Celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Memoral Contributions can be made to Ss.
