Augusta V. “Gussie” Pratt, 77, of Springfield, died at 11:30 p.m. Saturday, December 13, 2003 at St. John’s Hospice. Gussie was born May 4, 1926 in Potosi, MO the daughter of William and Essie Howard Lawson. She married Melvin Pratt Sr. in Piggott, AR. Mrs. Pratt was a waitress at Strong’s Cafeteria. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, Dennis R. Pratt and Melvin E. Pratt, Jr. She is survived by her husband, Melvin, Sr. of Springfield; three stepsons: Gary Wayne Pratt of FL, Terry Lee Pratt of MO, David Johnson of Springfield; two stepdaughters: Connie Sue Loggins of Petersburg, Sherry White of Granite City, several grandchildren and one sister: Idel Uhlry of Coffeen. Friends may call at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home from 12-1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 17, 2003. Funeral Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 17, 2003 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home with Scott Brindley officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
