She was born on April 8, 1934, in Springfield, the daughter of Roy M. and Gladys M. (Wells) Rhodes. Barbara married William J. Frey on August 16, 1951, in Bethalto, IL. He preceded her in death on September 22, 2011. She was also preceded in death by her parents.
Barbara’s family was her entire life, and she adored spending time with them. She was affectionately known as GG, by her family and friends.
Barbara is survived by her children, Debra Durako, William R. (wife, Tammy) Frey, and Cathy Cimarossa, all of Pleasant Plains; grandchildren, Justin (wife, Amy) Durako of Pleasant Plains, Jess (wife, Stacy) Durako of Bloomington, and Mary (husband, Derek) Cochran, Callie (husband, Ryan) Brenden, Will Frey, and Boone Cimarossa, all of Pleasant Plains; and twelve great-grandchildren, Carter and Drake Durako; Lauren, George, Kathleen, Frankie, and Millie Durako; Louca, Royce, and Audrey Cochran; and Lainey and Nico Brenden.
Private family burial will be held at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
The family will host a Celebration of Life from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 6, 2025, at Paul’s Paradise, 12250 State Rt. 125, Pleasant Plains, IL.
