

She was born on April 13, 1933 in Laddonia, MO, the daughter of the late Olin K. and Frankie M. (Westfall) Moore. She married Jimmie D. Holman on Feb. 21, 1954 in Vandalia, MO.
Barbara retired as a secretary/office manager at the Illinois Retired Teachers’ Association. Prior to that she had worked with the FBI, Horace Mann, and Auby and Associates. She was a member of Douglas Avenue United Methodist Church in Springfield, being active in Elizabeth’s Circle through the church. She also was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, the U.S. Postal Auxiliary, the Route 66 Cool Cruisers and Central IL Mustang Club.
She is survived by her husband Jimmie Holman; 3 daughters, Karen (husband Nick) Appelbaum of Springfield, Judy (husband David) Ingram of Pleasant Plains, IL, and Denise (husband Chris) Knoll of Bloomington, IL; 6 grandchildren, David Appelbaum, Laura (husband Joel) Rapaport, Diana (husband Steve) Hanley, Jacob Knoll, Maggie Knoll, and Graham Knoll; 1 great-granddaughter Madison Rapaport; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by 2 brothers, George and John Moore, and 2 sisters, Blossom Meehan and Mary Margaret Mitchell.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 7, 2017 from 12 Noon until time of the funeral service at 1:30 pm at Douglas Avenue United Methodist Church, 501 S. Douglas Ave., Springfield. Rev. Julia Melgreen will officiate. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Springfield. Services are under the direction of Bisch Funeral Home West, Springfield.
