Barbara A. Zeter

Barbara A. Zeter, 81, of Springfield, passed away on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at St. John's Hospice. Barbara was born on December 27, 1934 in Stonington, IL, the daughter of Harold A. and Jenny V. Mislagle Young. She married Robert Zeter on June 10, 1987 in Las Vegas, NV; he preceded her in death. Barbara was a 1952 graduate of Taylorville High School. She was a TV spokesperson for Timber Creek Homes and had a 20 year career in sales. Barbara was a loyal friend and loving grandmother, who never met a stranger. She enjoyed sewing, decorating, flower arranging, growing roses, playing bridge, bowling, dining out, dancing, and listening to music in her spare time. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Richard and Robert Young; and her previous husbands, Gerald Landry and Ross Poggenpohl. She is survived by her sons, David (wife, Pam) Poggenpohl of Springfield and Larry (companion, Cori) Poggenpohl of St. Louis, MO; three daughters, Sue (husband, Charles) Parks of Chapel Hill, NC, Marla (husband, James) Bailey of Champaign, IL, and Dawn (companion, James) Poggenpohl of Springfield; one step-son, Dean (wife, Annette) Zeter of Springfield; one step-daughter, Terri (husband, Mark) Creviston of Rochester; seven grandchildren, Jamie Poggenpohl, Taylor and Morgan Bailey, Katie and Josh Zeter, Sean (wife, Kristen) Sowers, and Robyn Davis; one great-grandchild, Hadley Wheeler; and one sister, Judith (husband, Gene) Rench of Memphis, TN. Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies. Memorial Ceremony & Gathering: A Memorial Ceremony will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield with Rev. George Nellikunnel officiating. Family will receive friends immediately following the ceremony until 5:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 675 East Linton Ave, Springfield, IL 62703.
