

Bernard L. Brown, 75, of Springfield, passed away at 2:02 p.m. Sunday, January 19, 2003 at St. John’s Hospital. Bernard was born July 22, 1927 in Farmersville, IL the son of Frank and Theresa (Coen) Brown. He married Betty I. Brown October 20, 1951 at St. Mary’s Church in Farmersville, IL. Mr. Brown was a graduate of Farmersville Schools and Brown’s Business College. He was employed by Fiat Allis (Allis Chalmers) and Secretary of State where he was Director of the Uniform Commercial Code Department. Served as Area Service Representative for United Commercial Travelers. He was a member of Calvary Temple Church where he served on the Official Board for nine years. He was Secretary-Treasurer of Local #1027, United Auto Workers, Secretary-Treasurer of United Commercial Travelers Capital #95 for twelve years, also Treasurer of Illinois United Commercial Travelers for six years and Treasurer for the International Secretary Treasurer of United Commercial Travelers for six years. He also served as Precinct Committeeman for the Democratic Party as well as their candidate for County Recorder of Deeds in 1960. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters: Mary Marley and Blanche Broccardo and two brothers: James and Willard Brown. He is survived by his wife: Betty I. of Springfield; two brothers: Lester (wife, Doris) Brown of Litchfield, Clarence (wife, Helen) Brown of Raymond and several nieces, nephews and cousins Friends may call at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home from 5-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 22, 2003. Additional visitation will be from 9-10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 23, 2003 at Calvary Temple. Funeral Services will begin at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 23, 2003 at Calvary Temple with Reverend Mark Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Wood Wreath Cemetery in New Berlin, IL. Memorial contributions may be made to Shriner’s Hospital for Children, 2001 S. Lindbergh Blvd, St. Louis, MO, 63131-3597. The family of Bernard L.
