Betty Lou Farmer, 79, of Springfield, died at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 18, 2007 at St. John’s Hospital. Betty was born February 5, 1928 in Jacksonville, IL, the daughter of Jess Edwin and Martha Isabelle Anders McCarthy. She married LeRoy Farmer in 1953 at White Hall, IL; he preceded her in death. Betty was a traffic court clerk until retirement. She enjoyed playing cards and bingo with her many friends at Capitol Retirement Village. She was a member of Clementine Memorial Church. She was also preceded by her parents; three sisters, two brothers and a son: Danny Farmer. She is survived by two sons: Dennis (wife, Tracy) Farmer of Springfield and David (wife, Beth) Farmer of Lockport; two daughters: Wendy (husband, Jerry) Flentge of Romeoville and Nedra Lovett of Joliet; one son-in-law: Mark Lovett of Lockport; thirteen grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; and two brothers: Carl McCarthy of Oregon and Everett (wife, Shasta) McCarthy of Alabama. Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center. Memorial ceremonies will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 21, 2007 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield with Rev. Dennis Farmer officiating.
