

Betty Ann Hagele, 67, of Springfield, died Tuesday afternoon, August 10, 2004 at her home. She was born on November 19, 1936 in Effingham, IL, the daughter of Louis F. and Frances P. Weber Thoele. She married Bernard J. Hagele on May 4, 1957 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Effingham by Reverend Gerald Weigand. Mrs. Hagele was a graduate of St. Anthony High School in Effingham, and attended St. John’s School of Nursing. She was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister, and was a member of the St. Aloysius Council of Catholic Women. She also was a Cub Scout Den Mother for many years. She enjoyed the Chicago Cubs, crafts, shopping, traveling, dining out and her grandchildren. Mrs. Hagele is survived by her husband, Bernard J. of Springfield, three sons, Mark A. (wife Denise) Hagele, of Springfield, Louis M. (wife Lorie) Hagele, of Bradenton Beach, FL, and Brian J. (wife Michelle) Hagele, of Springfield; one daughter, Debbie A. House, of Springfield, ten grandchildren, Aleisha, Ashley, Jessica, and Anthony Hagele, and LaTatia, Corey and Mikaila House, and Breanna, Brook, and Breigh Stephens; a niece, Michelle (husband Trevor) Scherman; and a nephew, Eric (wife Barb) Hagele. The family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 PM on Friday, August 13, 2004 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 South 6th, Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 4:00 PM. Concelebrated Funeral Mass will be held at 9:30 AM on Saturday, August 14, 2004 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 2119 North 20th, Springfield, with Reverend Thomas Liebler, principal celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 2119 N. 20th, Springfield, IL. 62702, or the American Diabetes Association, P.O.
