Betty Burge Irvin

Betty Burge Irvin, 76, of Springfield died at 8:20 p.m. Wednesday, January 21, 2004 at Heritage Manor. Betty was born April 23, 1927 in Springfield, the daughter of Truman and Viola Ford Burge Sr. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. She was employed at Hobbs Corporation as an assembler and also had been employed as a waitress. She was also preceded in death by her parents, an infant sister, Maria Burge and brother, Oscar Burge. She is survived by eight daughters: Janice Grant, Kelli Irvin, Rebecca (husband, Larry) Wieties, Donna Davis of Springfield and Patty Irvin of Riverton and Christina (husband, Lee) Harvey of Decatur and Maria (husband, George) Sheppard of Berlin, IL and Judith (husband, David) Brickey of Franklin, five sons: Thomas Irvin Jr. of Springfield, Tim Irvin of Berlin, Randy Irvin of Roagen, CO, Richard Irvin of Aurora, CO, and Benjamin (wife, Vinessa) Irvin of Aurora, CO., two brothers: William (wife, Judy) Burge of Mechanicsburg and Truman “Pem” Burge Jr. of Springfield, two sisters: Mrs. Mary Benedict of Springfield and Marge Sheppard of Berlin, IL , nineteen grandchildren, several great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews. Friends may call from 5 – 8:00 p.m. Friday, January 23, 2004 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home. Additional visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 24, 2004 at St. John’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Paul Olson officiating.
