Betty Lou McClain

She was born on September 2, 1929 in Centerville, Iowa, the daughter of the late Loyd and Marie (Sumpter) Shaddon. She married Lawrence L. McClain on July 18, 1952 and he preceded her in death.

Mrs. McClain was a homemaker. She loved to cook and to play cards.

She is survived by 3 children, William (wife Penny) McClain, Michael McClain, and Debra D. McClain-Long, all of Springfield; 3 grandchildren, Ryan McClain, Brandon McClain, and Scarlett McClain; 3 sisters, Barbara Veach of Cincinnati, IA, Patty Sury of Unionville, MO, and Delores Frywell of Hampton, IL; and a brother Billy Shaddon of East Moline, IL.

Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson Matthew McClain and 7 siblings.

Arrangements are under the direction of Bisch Funeral Home West, 293 1 S. Koke Mill Rd., Springfield. A graveside memorial service will be held on Monday, November 2, 2015 at 1 pm at Rock Island National Cemetery, Rock Island, IL, next to her husband. Per her wishes, cremation rites were accorded.
