Betty J. Rathbone, 72, of Springfield died at 2:35 a.m. Monday, May 26, 2003 at the Capital Care Center in Springfield. She was born May 24, 1931, the daughter of Clarence and Elsie Williams Dawson. She married Joseph Rathbone October 15, 1954 in Springfield. He preceded her in death. Mrs. Rathbone was a homemaker. She was also preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by two daughters: Connie M. (husband, Carlin) Laubenstein and Sandra K. Hamilton, both of Springfield; four sons: Bruce, Donald (companion, Julie Monroe), Jim, all of Springfield, and Tim W. (wife, Shannon) of Cantrall; thirteen grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. Friends may call at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home from 4-7:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 28, 2003. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 29, 2003 with Scott Brindley officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the donor’s choice.
