Beverly Burke-Rice

Beverly Burke-Rice, 70, of Rochester, passed away at 9:10 a.m. on Friday, March 9, 2018 at Auburn Nursing and Rehabilitation. Beverly was born January 19, 1948 in Springfield, the daughter of Edwin and Martha Aplin Burke. She married John Eugene Rice on September 21, 1979 in Springfield; he preceded her in death. Beverly graduated from New Berlin High School in 1966. She attended beauty school and Browns Business College. She was employed by TJ Laundry & Dry Cleaning for around 40 years. She enjoyed reading, BINGO, Jeff Gordon, and the Chicago Cubs. She was also preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Samantha Burke-Adams; brother, Lon Burke, Sr.; and numerous aunts and uncles. She is survived by her son, Justin (Lori) Rice of Rochester; daughter, Sunday Grigsby of Springfield; seven grandchildren, Ashley Grigsby of Springfield, Tyler Jones of Ann Harbor, MI, Taylor Jones of Iowa, Courtney Grigsby of Springfield, Braedon Rice of Rochester, Peyton Rice of Rochester, and Brylee Rice of Rochester; brother, Leslie (Celia) Burke of Divernon; sister, Brenda (Chuck) Embrey of Springfield; special aunt, Phillis York of Auburn; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Cremation was accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies. Memorial Gathering: Family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th Street, Springfield. Memorial Ceremony: 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 15, 2018 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home with Celebrant Judy Woerner officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
