

Beverly Jean De Long-English, of Springfield, died at 11:13 p.m. on Friday, October 10, 2008 at her home. Beverly was born in Springfield, the daughter of Forest G. and Josephine Louise Peters English. She was preceded in death by her father and her sister Susan Blevins. Beverly completed her undergraduate work at Sangamon State University. She then attended the University of St. Francis in Joliet, where she attained her Master's Degree in Health Care Administration. She was deeply political and a devoted Republican. She was also a fan of Rush Limbaugh and a member of the EIB network. She is survived by her son Douglas Michael De Long of Springfield; two daughters, Stephanie Michelle (husband, Chuck) Ward of Salt Lake City, UT, and Ashley Christine De Long of Springfield; grandson Christian George De Long; her mother, Josephine English of Springfield; godson, Daniel Schwarz; goddaughter, Sarah Jean Rotherham; former husband and father of her children, Stephen De Long of Osage Beach, MO; three sisters, Sandra (husband, Fred) Schwarz of Springfield, Diane Rotherham of Springfield, and Gena (husband, Darryl) English-Wheat of Springfield; her brother, John "Jack" (wife, Maria) English of Lakeland, FL; her loving friend, Greg Smith; her faithful companion, CoCo; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center. Family will receive friends at a Memorial Gathering from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 14, 2008 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 15, 2008 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 1725 S. Walnut, Springfield, with Rev. Christopher A. House, celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
