Please accept my deepest sympathies. Bev was so very kind to all of us who worked in the Regional Offices of Education and acted as our unofficial mentor. We all admired her personally and professional. She was always an examjple to us as someone who exhibited grace under pressure.

I extend to the family of Bev my most sincere sympathy. When I first began to work for the Whiteside ROE, it was Bev who took me "under her wing" and mentored me in my duties as a gifted education coordinator. I will be forever grateful for having known her.

I will always remember what a kind and wonderful person Bev was, but most of all what a wonderful teacher for adults as an advocate for gifted children. She was so very special and will be sadly missed.

We worked on and suffered through many different programs together. We last visited last summer when I was at ISBE for a meeting and we went out to dinner. Bev, We first met when you hired me to do a workshop so many years ago. Then our friendship grew when I became an ROE consultant at Two Rivers. In 1999 I was diagnosed only weeks after you. We compared notes and checked up on each other. I have had the privilege to walk with you in the Survivor's Walk at the Peoria Race for the Cure. It is race time again, and I know you'll be with me as I walk in memory of your courageous fight. You will be missed.

Brian and Christy, What a beautiful person and friend your Mom was. She and I traveled far and wide and shared many wonderful stories and places. She always remember you two whereever we wandered. Beverly and I worked together in Gifted Education when I too was in a regional office of education (Iroquois) and then with Champaign Schools. We shared several Gifted Education Conferences and meetings. Bev was always so positive and kept a bright outlook on life. She did her job well. I too have had breast cancer. One year after I retired I saw Bev with her sister at the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in Peoria. I'll wear a pink "memory tag" for her this year in Peoria in May. A bright star in the world of advocacy for gifted students has gone away. Many, many people including myself will miss Bev's kind and welcoming spirit. Even though I was not "officially" in her Educational Region she always included me. She was a true mentor. We will forever miss her. My prayers are with her family.

Bev served on our Illinois Association for Gifted Children board for many years. Her passion for understanding all people and her love of making life better for children will remain one of my fondest memories of a dear friend. To Bev's Family---Memories are precious things and all of you have many. Anyone who knew Bev was blessed to have shared her humor, her upbeat personality and her professional dedication. During her time as a consultant with the Gifted Area Service Center and much of time while she was with the ROE, I served as the Gifted Education Coordinator at ISBE. There has never been a more professional group than those consultants and Bev was a bright star among them. She, too, was a wonderful friend and we still kept in touch following my retirement. Last summer when I was back in Illinois, I gave her a call while on my way to Springfield from Champaign. Bev has had a tremendous impact on my life. She helped me establish a stronger gifted program for my school district and encouraged me to stay in gifted education even when the going has been tough over the past 14 years. We traveled to national, state, and local conferences together and she shared so much of herself with me. I will miss her but I know that she has touched so many many others in this world. She was truly a blessing in my life.

To Bev's family and to Larry, I went through high school with Bev and have been fortunate enough to share many memories and visits with her. She was the kindest, most loving person I have ever known. I am proud to have had her as a special friend. Before she got so sick this time she joined us in our quarterly SHA alumni dinners. When she was very sick I would call her to see how she was. She would answer in a quick sentence or two and then switch the subject to ask how I was doing with my poor health issues. They were nothing compared to hers, but she always cared more about everyone else. Larry, thank you for taking such good care of her the entire time she was sick. She needed you and appreciated you far more than you may even know. She spoke so kindly of you to all of us. She was loved by everyone that had the pleasure of meeting her. She has touched each of us in a special way. I hope she is looking down on all of us and seeing the immense love being poured out to her. Bev, until we meet again, enjoy walking with our Lord and Savior on the streets paved in gold. I miss you already, but I'm so glad that you are no longer in pain, and that you found out that your grandchild is a girl. You'll see her before anyone else, and probably be her guardian angel. Bev was the most persvasive, diplomatic, knowledgeable lady in the field of Gifted Education in the State of Illinois. She served on the Board of IAGC even when she was in pain. She supported every child, teacher, and administrator who knew a child who needed help. Her network in Springfield led to IAGC making the contacts need in a time of crises for gifted children. She will always remain in my memory as a women who cared and loved what she believed in. She was a model for all of us to fight the good fight and continue to believe and hope in the future. She will be greatly missed by all of us.

Every memory I have of Bev is illustrated with her gentle laugh and kind smile. She was already an expert in the field of gifted education when I met her, but she treated those of us new to the group as if we were valuable contributors. Even in her pain, she traveled many miles to continue advocating for the needs of gifted children. In 2004 she was a clear choice for Illinois Association for Gifted Children's Distinguished Service Award. Her memory is an inspiration to all of us to continue her work.

My sympathy to family and friends. I have know Bev for 20 plus years through gifted education. The world has lost a great person and a wonderful teacher. My prayers are with all of you.

Bev was my teacher when I was a student in the gifted program in the Riverton School District and she was the best! I have distinct memories of nearly every project I worked on in her class, from the third grade archeology project (we got to dig up real bones!) to the creation of a fictional country (mine was named some abstraction of Polaris). She also volunteered time to read and comment upon stories I had written as an elementary student. Educators are truly busy people, and I have always felt honored that she took the time to respond to these. I still have those stories and her comment sheets, more than twenty years later. Bev will be sorely missed by gifted students and educators everywhere. I'm truly grateful for the opportunity I had to know her.

My sympathy to all of Bev's family and friends. My first and best memory of her was her smile. She could light up a room with it. All who knew her can take pride in what she did for gifted children. I met Beverly through participation in the Levels I & II Gifted Training. I was instantly drawn to her obvious caring for students and helping those of us who work with students.

My thoughts and prayers are with Bev's family. Bev was a strong advocate for gifted education. She was very helpful when I became the gifted specialist for my district. She was so willing to share her advice and expertise. Bev had a positive impact on many lives.

I have known Bev for many years. She was a true inspiration to all in her capacity as gifted educator and in the fight for her life. Each year at the Gifted Conference, I looked forward to sitting together at lunch and catching up with what she was doing lately and on the lives of her children. Her smile is imprinted in my mind as I remember the last time I saw her at her retirement reception. She kept a wonderfully positive attitude and was a model of someone who loved her family, life, children, and education. She touched countless lives during her many years as an educator. She will be missed by so many people.

There is a place where gifted ones go and know that they are treasured; They lack for nothing. Their stress is gone and pain's replaced by pleasure. The work they do is recognized by One Who knows them best, and Life's eternal, life is good, and there are no more tests. We miss the gifted ones who leave, remembering all they shared. A gifted woman has gone home and I'm just one more who cared! My condolences to all who loved Bev. Her courage, kindness, friendship and dedication to gifted kids are what I will remember.

How blessed I feel for knowing Bev and walking the Gifted Education path with her. What warm, funny and wonderful memories. Right now, I remember the time she and I were facilitating a Trainer of Trainers for the Institute. The floor of the room we were in was slippery; the chairs had wheels on them. What else could we do but have all the teachers 'wheel' around, introducing themselves! To Bev's children: she spoke with such pride about you, always with a smile. To Larry: your support of Bev is touching and a lesson for us all. Thank you. Bev: you are in our hearts. Thank for having walked with us...and You look wonderful!!!

I met Bev shortly after I moved to Illinois in 1994. I quickly learned what an articulate and passionate person she was - both personally and professionally. We shared a love for books and often exchanged reading recommendations. She was a model of grace and courage throughout her illness. I was privileged to meet her children and Larry and to see the love and admiration among them. Bev's legacy in gifted education will continue, and the successes that we attain for gifted children will be built upon the foundation that she and others established.

I was so sorry to receive word of Bev's death. It is a loss for all who had the great privilege of knowing her. I can't imagine the void her death leaves for you, her family and close friends. Please know my thoughts and prayers are with you!!

To Beverly's family and friends and loved ones, I would like to express my most sincere sympathy for your loss. I went to grade school and high school with Beverly. And most recently, in the last couple of years, also had the pleasant opportunity to be in her company a few times when the SHA girls from the class of 1960 would meet for their get-togethers. We will all miss her sweet smile and her lovely personality; plus, the enthusiam she added.

I sincerely apologize and am deeply regretful that I was absent at her service. I actually found out today, May 5 that she had past. Mia, my wife, and Bev were indeed good friends. I'm certain and confident that they both are now in restful peace. Free of pain and suffering, and I can certainly imagine them both looking down upon us now with their wonderful warm smiles, sparkle in their eyes, and thier contagious laughter.
