

Beverlyn Marlene Robertson passed into eternal rest on November 30, 2011 with her family by her side.
She is survived by her husband William Samuel Robertson, children; Craig W. Robertson (Rona) of Hummelstown, PA., Pamela K. Guymon (John) of Decatur, IL., Eric S. Robertson (Donna) of Springfield, IL., six grandchildren; Melissa Edwards (Brian), Valerie Guymon, Matthew Guymon, Sara Robertson, William Robertson and Rachel Robertson, great grandchildren; Hunter William Edwards and Madison Leigh Edwards, half brothers; Stephen Croft and Lonnie Croft, and a half sister, Annette K. Croft.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Cathryn E. Lewis (Sherman) Croft, Father, Edwin Paul Sherman (Daddy Paul), Step-Father Lochalan N. Croft, Grandparents Bonnie Toy Lewis and Leo R. Lewis, Aunt and Uncle Wanda and Richard Lewis.
Born Beverlyn Marlene Sherman in Oskaloosa, Iowa on March 30 1933. She grew up in Ottumwa, Iowa and won the most beautiful baby contest in 1934 in the state of Iowa. She spent her early years in dancing, singing and cheerleading. She moved to Oskaloosa, Iowa following the death of her mother.
Beverlyn graduated from Oskaloosa High School in 1951 as an honor student and married her high school sweetheart, William Robertson in 1953. She raised three children in Decatur, IL, and volunteered for many activities, including Cub and Girl Scout leaders, PTA, Lakeview High School library as well as AFS Foreign Exchange Program area representative of American’s Abroad Program for 8 county schools. Her family hosted Caroline Ericksson from Sweden 1977-1978, hosted “Up with People” exchange students from Denmark and 2 Dutch boys.
She was on the facility study committee for the Decatur Public School Board for Michael Baum School and was a Macon County Election Judge for 20 years. She was a Life Patroness of Decatur Junior Welfare Association (JWA) where she was “picture lady” in Decatur Public Schools and participated in Well-Baby clinics. She was an honorary life member of PTA.
Beverlyn was a member of First United Methodist Churches in Decatur, Barrington and Springfield Illinois. She served on various committees including Co-President of the IBT Sunday School Class at First United Methodist Church in Springfield. She was the Devotions chairman of the First United Methodist Church Circle.
Beverlyn was a die-hard Cub fan and Michael Jordan fan. She loved attending her children’s and her grandchildren’s sporting events. She was so important to her family and made every event a memory.
Cremation rites will be accorded by the Bisch Crematory.
Visitation: The family will receive friends from 9:00-10:30 am Monday December 5, 2011 at the First United Methodist Church in Springfield.
Funeral services will follow at 10:30 am with Rev Dr. Roger Ross and Rev. Dr. Bob Swickard officiating. Burial will be private in Camp Butler National Cemetery.
