Bill Morton

Bill was born on March 4, 1949, in Jacksonville, IL, the son of Dwight and Barbara Wright Morton. He married Karon McCarty on June 21, 1969, at St. John’s Lutheran.

Bill was a graduate of Lanphier High School. For 37 years, he worked as a cement mason with Local #18. He attended the First United Methodist Church and played in a golf league. In his spare time, he enjoyed golf, watching the Pittsburgh Steelers, spending time with his grandchildren, skiing, and vacationing to Bora Bora and Anna Maria Island with his family. Bill was an avid supporter and volunteer for Lanphier High School wrestling program

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, David Morton.

He is survived by his wife, Karon S. Morton of Springfield; one son, Nick (wife, Michelle) Morton of South Lake Tahoe, CA; two daughters, Melissa (husband, Chris) Hampson of Springfield and Jennifer (husband, Matt) Ramirez of Springfield; seven grandchildren, Chase and Kadi Hampson, Eli, Charlie, and Olivia Ramirez, Maya Carleton, and Maggie Kunshek; one brother, Robert (wife, Jean) Morton of Springfield; one great-grandchild, Dove Hampson; several nieces and nephews; many special friends; and his beloved dog, Max.

Cremation will be provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies.

Memorial Gathering: Family will receive friends from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, March 28, 2022, at Butler Funeral Home-Springfield, 900 S. Sixth St., Springfield.

Graveside Ceremony: 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, at Roselawn Memorial Park with Rev. Dr. Roger Grimmett officiating.
