My husband lost his uncle from Covid weeks before Christmas; he was infected by his vaccinated daughter. His poor cousin was absolutely distraught because she believes it was her fault. I wish vaccination was the solution to prevent spreading this horrible virus, but sadly it is not. Sincere condolences for your loss. God Bless all lives lost.

First of all so sorry for the loss of your love one..💔💔💔💔 I know just how ya feel. In January my father & myself both where infected with covid...my dad was hospitalized, I was at home, but a few time thought I was going to die, or I should call ambulance to go to hospital but someone had to take care of the cat & dog.. my dad passed after only being there like 10 days... We had a full honors military funeral for him, but I was scared & still scared to be around people & I am fully vaccinated. I do know I can still get it, plus I have underlining health issues... I still wear my mask & watch were I go.

I want to send my sincere condolences to the family of this lovely lady. I, too, have recently lost a loved one to COVID-19 and it's just brutal! I'm so sorry for your loss! I lost my 1 year old grandson to the Delta variant two weeks ago.  He contracted it from his grandfather who had been vaccinated and shed the virus on to my precious little angel. I pray that you are able to find peace, as we are still struggling to.

I have read many obituaries and the attached memories that generally come with them. 
Never have I seen a more bizarre compilation than this one, where "memories" have been replaced by a platform used to battle it out between the vaccinated and non-vaccinated.

Hello. I would first like to share my deepest sympathies with your entire family and all of her close friends. 
Your story caught my attention because my own mother was born on Jan 26th, 1955. She, too, is also vaccinated and worked in healthcare, before retiring as soon as Covid came, 18 mos ago. Also, my 2 cousins are attending the Univ of Alabama (one as a sophomore, her sister as a freshman), as our family resides in central IL. 
I believe your moms obituary was both courageous and very heartfelt. I also believe she would be very proud of you for doing so. 
Ignore the nay sayers who are not making this a humanitarian health issue, but sadly a political one. 675,000 people passed away from the flu pandemic in 1918, yet we almost all get the flu vaccine each year without any issues, and although we are nearing that number for Covid-19 cases, it is looked upon much differently. 
Yes, vaccinated and unvaccinated people can spread this evil disease, but the body count would be so much higher without the vaccine and masks. That has been proven over and over, for example... My 48 yr old cardiac nurse cousin and her 72 yr old dad (both vaccinated) got Covid and did not have to be hospitalized. Her 46 yr old unvaccinated husband was hospitalized, came home on oxygen and now has pnuemonia as well. Also, my 57 yr old cousin in Ky was not vaccinated and passed away yesterday while in ICU with Covid. 
I understand the exemptions for health or religious reasons, I DON'T understand those doing it for "Political exemption".

Your family's tragic loss brought to my attention the fact that people who are vaccinated can still get COVID and every person infected with COVID can spread it to others.  I am vaccinated but the publicity of your tribute opened my eyes to the fact that being vaccinated is not a guarantee of immunity for myself or others.  

I'm very sorry to hear of your loss.  My university - Duke University - is engaged furiously in research to help prevent this illness and even better, to treat it before it's too late.

Duke itself has an outbreak of cases right now - 349 students and 15 staff are positive.  98% of them were vaccinated, matching the 98% vaccination rate of the student body.

If some good can come of your tragic loss, perhaps it will be more awareness of 2 things - first, that even with vaccination, people are getting infected , and second, that when vaccinated people are infected they may not know it, and "shed" the virus just as profusely as unvaccinated.  

Let's all pull together as Americans, please - not everyone can be, or should be, vaccinated - PLEASE everyone, consult with your doctor.  It's individually specific, it's different for young men vs. grandmothers ... but we urge everyone to engage with your family doctor and help stop this scourge.  Thank you.

Although I’ve never met your family I was touched by the courage you exhibited in writing Candy’s obituary.  Losing a loved one is difficult enough without the extra burden of knowing it was preventable. I add my voice to others who wish  you peace during this very sad time.

I read about Candace’s story on CNN and wanted to thank her family for their bravery in sharing her story. I also have RA , am fully vaccinated with a booster, and take medication to treat my RA that leaves me immunocompromised.  I’ve been struggling to decide whether or not to travel across the country to see my family at Thanksgiving this year, and Candace’s story helped me make the very difficult decision to stay home. In November, it will be 2 years since I last saw my parents (now in their 80s) and I miss them so much, but the risk is too great. Thank you for helping me make this painful decision. She was such a sweet woman. It's a shame she's gone because people didn't trust the government. They may not be entirely trustworthy but governments never do anything to hurt their own citizens. Get vaxxed people. I did it. Very few permanent side effects.  Vaxsneedation saves lives.

My deepest condolences.  I too understand your pain my father Michael Beck died Jan 20, 2021 at 74 after battling COVID for 8 weeks 7 of which on a ventilator.  He actually came off the ventilator after 49 days in ICU only to pass suddenly  of cardiac arrest 4 days later.   I never got to say goodbye to my father.  I only got to talk to him via FaceTime of which the day before he passed I told him I loved him and he was my “Hero”.   I was able to see him from the window one last time just hours before he died.     He was expected to survive which made it even more difficult.   I share your pain, your frustration, your anger at people when I hear them mock masks or the disease or the vaccine.  They will never understand until it affects them directly.   Know there are people here for you and pray her memory will be a blessing for you

I also did not know your beautiful mother, but I am so sorry you lost her. My father in law passed on the same day of Covid. He was also vaccinated, but likely was infected by someone that chose not to be. In that way, I understand your pain. As a nurse, I've grieved for the patient, the family and friends left behind who want to say goodbye but cannot.  

The saddest part is that he or she among strangers, far from a familiar hand to hold, a final kiss or loving embrace.

I did not know your mother, but I read an article about your mother’s passing and I am so sorry that you’ve had to say goodbye to her.
