

Carl M.''The Bear'' Murphy, 76, of Farmersville, passed away at 6:20 a.m. Thursday, March 07, 2002 at St. John’s Hospital. Carl was born September 9, 1925 the son of John M. and Marie Langen Murphy in Harvel Township, IL. He married Mickey McAnarney April 4, 1945 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Farmersville. He was a lifelong farmer retiring in 1982. He obtained his Real Estate License in 1985. He was the Mayor of Farmersville, a member and a former Grand Knight of Knights of Columbus Council #1152. He was a Democratic Precinct Committeeman, Montgomery County Assessor, Farmersville Citizen of the Year in 1994, General Chairman of Farmersville Centennial Committee and a die hard Cardinal Fan. He was also a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Michael and one brother, Roy. He is survived by his wife, Mickey of Farmersville; four daughters: Colleen (husband, James) Murphy Buck of Naperville, Linda Murphy Boston of Springfield, Teresa (husband, Garry) Todt of Farmersville, Donna (husband, Mark) Harms of Springfield; four brothers: Gerald (wife, Sandy) Murphy of Farmersville, John E. (wife, Shirley) Murphy of Farmersville, James (wife, Barbara) Murphy of Longview, WA, Harold (wife, Virginia) Murphy of Farmersville; one sister: Dorothy Maguire of Dorset, VT; three aunts, eight grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Farmersville from 3-6:00 p.m. Saturday, March 9, 2002. Visitation will end with a wake service at 6:00 p.m. Additional visitation will be from 10-11:00 a.m. Sunday, March 10, 2002 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Concelebrated Funeral Mass will be at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, March 10, 2002 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Reverend David Zimmerman principal celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Martin Cemetery in Farmersville. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Isidore Grade School 207 Nobbe St., Farmersville, IL 62533-9784. The family of Carl M.
