Carol Horne, 66, of Springfield, died at 8:50 a.m. on Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at Memorial Medical Center. Carol was born October 21, 1942 in Happy, KY, the daughter of Eva Pratt Brashear. She married Elmer Horne in Springfield on November 4, 1961 and he preceded her in death in 2003. Family meant everything to Carol and she was a loving mother and grandmother. Her granddaughter, Shelby, was the light of her life. She was also preceded in death by her mother and a sister, Marianna Brashear. She is survived by a son, Brian (wife, Tammy) Horne of Springfield; a granddaughter, Shelby Horne of Springfield; two sisters, Doris (husband, James) Gray of Fairfield, OH and Marselle Eversole of Oak Island, NC; a brother, Stewart (wife, Peggy) Brashear of Olympia, KY; and several nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends from 5:00 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 23, 2009 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Funeral ceremonies will be at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, April 24, 2009 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home with Scott Brindley officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
