

Carol D. Maxfield, 54, of Springfield, died at 2:22 p.m. on Sunday, September 21, 2014 at St. John's Hospice. Carol was born June 4, 1960 in Springfield, the daughter of Henry and Barbara Hernan Maxfield, and grew up in Mason City, IL. Carol was a 1978 graduate of Mason City High School and received her bachelor's from Monmouth College in 1982. She started in the teller department at Illinois National Bank and later worked in the trust department. Carol was an active member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, serving as deacon and elder. She enjoyed her family, her friends, nature and volunteer work that included fifteen years with Memorial Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her father. She is survived by her mother, Barbara (husband, Donald) Paton of E. Peoria; three siblings, John (wife, Randi) Maxfield of Chatham, Marcia (husband, Earl) Bielser of Mason City, and Mark (wife, Amy) Maxfield of E. Peoria; four nieces, Abby, Ann, Sydney, and Taylor; one nephew, Izaak; two grandnephews and one grandniece; and a large extended family. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, September 26, 2014 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield.
