Carol S. Pitts

She was born in Chicago on June 11, 1939, the daughter of John and Lola (Parrish) Richardson. Carol married Jerry Pitts in Springfield on January 13, 2007.

Carol graduated from Hyde Park High School and earned her bachelor’s degree from University of Illinois Chicago. She went on to work as a pharmacist at various hospitals in the Chicago area for 25 years. Carol and Jerry enjoyed line dancing together with the Silver Steppers, which is where she met Jerry. Carol also loved playing the dulcimer, skiing, and reading a good book- especially cookbooks. She was also a faithful member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where she was a member of the choir.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, John Richardson, Jr.

Carol is survived by her husband, Jerry; sons, Tom (Laura) Bush of Connecticut and Michael (Jeri Lynn) Bush of Indiana; daughter, Diane (Brett) Bearrick of Cape Coral, FL; grandchildren, Jonathan (Claire), Matthew, and Travis Bush, Clarke (Davey) Sumner, and Berke Bearrick; twin sister, Jane Helen Kenney; one great-grandchild and one on the way; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation and Funeral Ceremony: Family will receive friends at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 2750 E. Sangamon Ave., Springfield, until the time of the Ceremony at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Adam Rouse officiating.

Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
