

Carol M. Piascik Townsend, 71, of Springfield, passed away on Thursday, February 26 at her home and in the loving presence of her family. Carol was born on July 28, 1937 in Chicago, the daughter of Benjamin and Rose V. Jasinski Piascik. She married Michael Townsend on September 3, 1960 in Springfield. Carol was employed by the State of Illinois for over 30 years, last serving in the Secretary of State's office. She was a member of Prairieland Dance Club, volunteered with Right to Life, and in the 1960's taught dance at Arthur Murray Studio. Carol loved dance, music and enjoyed traveling. Above all, she cherished her family, her Catholic faith, and Polish heritage. Preceding Carol in death are her parents; her sister, Rose Marie; stepfather, Dutch Imel and aunt, Adeline Ciesielski. She is survived by her husband, Michael; her daughters, Laura Townsend of Oakland, CA, Julie (husband, Jeff) Keeney of Villa Grove, Jenny Townsend (Marty Santarelli) of Riverton, and Angie (husband, James) Burleson of Petaluma, CA; seven grandchildren, Jerry Roof, Ian Ericksen, Hannah Keeney, Chloe Pointer, Madeline and Daniel Burleson, and Eli Hill; her twin sister, Nancy K. Barley of Rochester, NY and West Palm Beach, FL; and sister, Ann Link; numerous nieces and nephews, especially Ronnie and Donna Ciesielski; friends of the family Paul Tuck and Jane Stonesifer.
