

Carolyn J. “Bullock” Cooley-Brown, 62 of Springfield, died at 6:20 a.m. Tuesday, August 17, 2004 at St. John’s Hospital Hospice. Carolyn was born September 1, 1941 in Charleston, IL the daughter of William and Betty Brown. Carolyn was a homemaker and was later employed by the Illinois Secretary of State. She was a volunteer at St. Monica’s Maternity Center and the Apostolic Center at the Franciscan Mother House. She was a member of Springfield Chapter of La Leche League. She was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Ladies Auxiliary #1592, Fraternal order of the Elks #158 and a past member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. She was also an avid tennis player. She was preceded in death by her father, William Brown and infant sister, Patty Ann Brown. She is survived by one son: Michael William (wife, Kristina) Bullock of Springfield; three daughters: Lori Bullock-Weakley of Springfield, Lisa Steiner of Dawson, Melissa Bullock of Springfield; her mother: Betty Brown of Charleston; seven grandchildren: Steven Weakley, Zachary Weakley, Nicholas Hartwick, Hayden Bullock, Erica Holland, Amanda Holland, Emma Grace Steiner; two sisters: Vickie (husband, Gary) Thompson of Windsor, Dede (husband, George) Heintz of Pana; one brother: Bill (wife, Pam) Brown of Barnesville, GA and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Family will receive friends from 2:45-3:45 p.m. Friday, August 20, 2004 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 1725 S. Walnut, Springfield. Funeral Mass will be at 4:00 p.m. Friday, August 20, 2004 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 1725 S. Walnut, Springfield, with Rev. Richard Chiola celebrant. Cremation will be accorded by the Cremation Tribute Center following services. Graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 21, 2004 at Roselawn/Mound Cemetery in Charleston, IL with Rev. Joseph Ring officiating and the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Ladies Auxiliary will perform services. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society 1305 Wabash, Suite J, Springfield, IL 62704 or Catholic Charities of Springfield, 120 S. 11th St. Springfield, IL 62703.
