Carolyn A. Ferrel, 86, of Springfield, passed away on December 16, 2025 at the Illinois Presbyterian Home in Springfield. She was born on January 1, 1939 in Springfield to Charles K. Boling and Dolly O. Crawford Boling. Carolyn married James W. Ferrel on April 30, 1977 and he preceded her in death on September 15, 2010.
Mrs. Ferrell is survived by two nephews: Todd and James Davis, four step-daughters and eight step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one daughter Kathryn E. Tallent and one sister Kathryn Davis.
Carolyn worked as a Registered Nurse for Memorial Hospital from 1959-1978 and SIU School of Medicine form 1978-1995. She was a member of Central Baptist Church, the Mission Circle at Central Baptist, Memorial Hospital Retiree’s and she was an alumni of St. Francis College of Nursing in Aurora, Illinois.
A funeral service will be held at 12:30pm on Monday January 5, 2026 at Bisch and Son Funeral Home, 505 East Allen Street with burial to follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 12:00pm until the time of service Monday at Bisch and Son.
