Catherine Ann Sanderson

Catherine was born on July 6, 1950, the daughter of Harold and Laura (Ratkie) Loyd.

Catherine attended Ursuline Academy in Springfield, IL. She worked for the State of Illinois in the early 80s, under the Thompson administration until she retired. Her faith and family were a very important part of her life, and she loved to attend St. Agnes with her cousin Mary. Catherine was a very loving, compassionate, and devoted mother, sister, aunt, wife and confidant. She would do anything for anyone and spent most of her time caring for her family. Catherine enjoyed bowling on Friday nights with Guys & Dolls Bowling League, watching the St. Louis Cardinals, and shooting horseshoes on Sundays.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Laura; husband, Larry Sanderson, Sr.; brother, Mike Loyd; and niece, Deanise Loyd.

Catherine is survived by her daughters, Jennifer (Venson Williams, Sr.) Sanderson of Springfield, IL, Nancy (Deontay Ettress, Sr.) Sanderson of Las Vegas, NV; son, Larry (Megan Tibbs) Sanderson, Jr.; adopted children, Paula, Suzie, and Dianne; brother, Harold Loyd of Melbourne Beach, FL; grandchildren, Vontavius, Akeem, Isaiah, Chere, Shelby, and Autumn; great grandchildren, Ny-lani and Malachi, Jr.; lifelong friends, Connie and Norman Clark; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Memorial Gathering and Ceremony: Family will receive friends at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at Butler Funeral Home-Springfield, 900 S. 6th Street, Springfield, IL 62703, until the time of the Ceremony at 10:00 a.m., with Celebrant Judy Woerner officiating

Burial will follow at Joe Brunk Cemetery in Rochester, IL.
