

Cecelia Tillman Altizer, long-time resident of Springfield, lost her courageous battle with cancer on June 27th surrounded by her family. She was born in Tyson, Georgia to Edith and Lanus Tillman. A graduate of Culver Stockton College in Canton, Missori, she earned a teaching degree. Always ambitious, she later attended University of Illinois and obtained a Masters Degree in Psychology. Her love for teaching in the Springfield school system lasted for many years until her retirement. She also renovated multifamily living spaces to form the Altizer Complex Apartments for several decades.
Her love of cooking was enjoyed by family and many friends and delicious desserts were always given to friends in times of sorrow or need. Cecelia was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents. She is survived by three daughters, Debbie House, Vickie Styles and Denise Hanson, along with seven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. The family will dearly miss their beautiful, dignified mother and grandmother.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Friday June 30, 2017 at Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 Koke Mill Road. The family will meet friends from 10:00am until the time of service Friday at Bisch West.
