

Charles R. Verdier, 84, of Springfield, died at 1:21 p.m. on Saturday, July 14, 2012 at Memorial Medical Center. Charles was born February 22, 1928 in Surabaya, former Dutch East Indies (now Indonesia), the son of Caesar and Louise Maidman Verdier. He married Geraldine Geijsen on December 11, 1952 in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Charles served in the Royal Dutch Navy before immigrating to the United States. He was a longtime member of St. Agnes Catholic Church. He worked for over 38 years for Bunn-O-Matic Corporation before retiring in 1998. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Geraldine Verdier of Springfield; son, Richard (wife, Colleen) Verdier of Fort Worth, TX; daughter, Renee (husband, Dan) Markwell of Springfield, IL; five grandchildren, Nicole Verdier, Martinique Verdier (husband, Trey) Wagner, Eric and Chris Verdier of Texas, and Emma Markwell of Springfield; and sister, Louise Verdier of Alicante, Spain. Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center following ceremonies. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 10:00-10:45 a.m. on Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 245 N. Amos Ave., Springfield. Funeral Mass: 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, with Rev. Robert J. Jallas celebrant. Private family burial will be held at Calvary Cemetery.
