

Cheryl Marie Parkinson, 54, of Springfield, went on to rest at 8:57 p.m. on Wednesday, November 4, 2009 at Memorial Medical Center. Cheryl was born October 26, 1955 in Springfield, the daughter of Frank and Eleanor M. Mostaka Butchek. She married Bob Parkinson, they later divorced, and he survives her. Cheryl was a graduate of Lanphier High School and was employed by the State of Illinois as an accountant at the Department of Corrections for the last 16 years. She enjoyed boating, camping and water-skiing. She also enjoyed making crafts and loved decorating for every holiday and season. She was a member of the Blue Ridge Club. She is preceded in death by her father, Frank; grandfather, Kaz and grandmother, Marie; and a sister-in-law, Debbie Butchek. She is survived by her mother Eleanor M. Butchek of Springfield; two brothers, Gary C. Butchek and Greg L. Butchek both of Springfield; great-niece, Summer Rayne Butchek, whom she had legal guardianship of; nieces and nephews, Joe, Jennie, Shem, Kristi and Shelah; great-nieces and great-nephews, Theron, Kenton and Leandra; and, Oscar, the pot bellied pig and Xena, her Boxer dog. Family will receive friends from 5:00 8:00 p.m. on Monday, November 9, 2009 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 5:00 p.m. Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1345 N. 6th St., Springfield, with Rev. Msgr. Thomas P. Holinga, V.F. celebrant. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
