Christopher "Chris" David Gutierrez

Christopher "Chris" David Gutierrez, 51, of Champaign, formerly of Springfield, died at 12:40 p.m. on Thursday, September 12, 2013 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO. Chris was born December 24, 1961 in Springfield, the son of Pedro and Stephina Arguello Gutierrez. He married Dora Miller on August 26, 2013 in Champaign, IL. Chris was a graduate of Springfield High School and was in the Army Reserves. He was currently employed as a truck driver for R & L Carriers. He previously was employed for a telephone company when he lived in AZ. He enjoyed riding his Harley, drawing, watching NASCAR, and was an avid Jeff Gordon fan and a St. Louis Cardinals fan. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant sister, Mary Patrice Gutierrez; and younger brother, Paul Jon Gutierrez. He is survived by his wife, Dora Gutierrez of Champaign, IL; son, C.J. Gutierrez of Champaign, IL; step-son, Jake Wethington of Petersburg, IL; mother and father-in-law, Kenny and Daisy Miller of Springfield, IL; sisters-in-law, Darla Ramirez of Springfield, IL and Debbie Riley of Houston, TX; siblings, Vicky Gutierrez of Athens, IL, Stephanie Gutierrez of Avondale, AZ, Steve (wife, Melinda) Gutierrez of Petersburg, IL, Anthony (wife, Nancy) Gutierrez of Venice, FL, Barbara Pierce of Springfield, IL, Joseph Gutierrez of Phoenix, AZ, and Susan Hiltebeitel of Petersburg, IL; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his beloved dogs, Molly and Maggie. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield, IL.
