D. Robert "Bob" Teater

D. Robert "Bob" Teater, Sr., 79, of Springfield, died at 11:50 a.m. on Sunday, February 22, 2015 at Vibra Healthcare. Bob was born February 9, 1936 in Springfield, the son of Dwight Clayton and Edith Alice Ryan Teater. He married Bettie Jayne Paoli on October 31, 1959 in Springfield. Bob was a graduate of Cathedral Boys High School and Western Illinois University. He served in various capacities at Griffin High School / Sacred Heart-Griffin, including football coach, teacher and grounds manager for over 35 years. Bob enjoyed fishing, camping, traveling and golfing. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Bill Comstock; and one grandson, Sean Thomas Teater. He is survived by his wife, Jayne Teater of Springfield; three sons, D. Robert Teater, Jr. of Winter Haven, FL, Thomas Teater of Springfield, and Timothy Teater of Gurnee; one daughter, Annie (husband, Billy) Markum of Springfield; nine grandchildren, Ariana, Mike, Brad, Casie, Marc, Anya, Ryan, Bryce, and Olivia; one great-granddaughter, McKenna, and a great-grandson on the way; one brother, Jerry (wife, Judy) Teater of St. Augustine, FL; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation and Funeral Mass: Family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. until the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 26, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1345 N. 6th St., Springfield, with Rev. Steven Janoski, celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
