

Dale F. Bounds, 74, of Springfield, died at 4:07 a.m. on Saturday, July 28, 2018, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Dale was born September 2, 1943, in Cantrall, IL, the son of James LeRoy and Beulah Gibson Bounds. He married Connie Lane on June 3, 1967, at Clementine Presbyterian Church in Springfield. Dale was a 1961 graduate of Athens High School. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army National Guard 1144th Transportation and earning the rank of Sergeant E-5. Dale worked at Allied School Equipment, Midstate Appliance Company, Metal Air Corp, and retired from E.L. Pruitt Company retiring after 44 1/2 years as corporate secretary. He was a charter member of Sugar Creek United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers Melvin and LeRoy C. Bounds; and two sisters, Betty Burris and Wilda May Hughes. He is survived by his wife, Connie Bounds of Springfield; son, Randall L. Bounds of Chatham; grandson, Forrest L. Bounds of Chatham; brother, Kenneth Wayne (wife, Nancy) Bounds of Cantrall; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his beloved cat, Katie. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 1, 2018, at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Funeral Ceremony: 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 2, 2018, at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Dinges officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Animal Protective League, 1001 Taintor Rd., Springfield, IL 62702, St Jude Childrens Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148, or a charity of the donors choice.
