Dale E. Kuhn

Dale E. Kuhn, 69, of Springfield, IL, died at 7:55 p.m. on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at Springfield Memorial Hospital. Dale, who loved his family and home more than anything was often heard saying “we’re all so lucky”.

Dale was born September 2, 1954, in Canton, IL, the son of Glen and Sally Troy Kuhn. He married Shauna Clarke on June 22, 2013, in Fawnskin, CA.

Dale graduated from Canton Senior High in 1972 and earned his bachelor’s degree from Western Illinois University in Macomb in 1976. He also earned his master’s degree in Education from Western Illinois University in Macomb in 1984, where he was initiated as a member of the Delta Tau Delta Fraternity. He was committed to living a life of excellence as through the years he continued supporting numerous chapters of the fraternity, especially his son’s chapter. He went on to earn an MBA from the University of Illinois in 1992. Dale was employed with JULIE and retired in 2012 after over a decade of service. Dale enjoyed coaching, especially his children. He was their biggest cheerleader. He also loved officiating high school basketball games with the IHSA. He enjoyed golfing, working in his yard, cards, and all types of games. Dale was a huge supporter of the Fighting Illini, St. Louis Blues, and Chicago Cubs.

He will be deeply missed by all of his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Dale is survived by his wife, Shauna of Springfield; his children, Andrea (Bryan) Wilson of Springfield, Alison (companion, Zakery Rule) Kuhn of Springfield, and Joseph (companion, Emily Glenk) Kuhn of St. Charles, MO; grandchildren, Ruby June Wilson and Norah Maeve Wilson, both of Springfield; siblings, Mary Young of Chesterton, IN and Sandy Bordenkircher of Jacksonville, IL; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Cremation was provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
