

Daniel �Boone� Lonergan, 86, of Chatham, passed away Saturday, December 31, 2011, at his residence. He was born January 25, 1925, in Chatham, IL, the son of Daniel and Dolly Brassfield Lonergan. In 1951, he married Joan Marie Denny, who preceded him in death. His parents; sisters, Eleanor Brady, Mary Jacobs and Cecilia Klein; brother, James Lonergan; son, James D. Lonergan; and grandson, John W. Lonergan preceded him in death. Mr. Lonergan is survived by son, Paul Gene (Ren�e) Lonergan of Chatham; daughters Carol (Robert) McGuire of Springfield and Jean Ann White of Chatham; daughter-in-law Brenda Lonergan of Ward, AK; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren. �Boone� served his country during World War II in the 71st Infantry, General Patton�s Third Army-European Theatre of Operation. A builder by trade, he worked construction rehab for Lester Wiley Lumber in Chatham; new construction for MA Clayton Construction ; new & remodeling construction for RB Estill Construction and worked for the Ball-Chatham School District in maintenance before retiring. A member of St. Joseph the Worker Church in Chatham, �Boone� was on the board to build the new church in the 1970�s. He was an Assistant Chief of the Chatham Fire Department and a member of the Ed Walk Memorial Sportsman Club, where they camped in Modesto, IL. He was a lifetime member of the Chatham American Legion Post 759. Visitation: Wednesday, January 4, 2012, from 4-7pm at Staab Polk Memorial Home, 8855 State Route 4, Chatham, IL. Funeral Service: 7pm, Wednesday, January 4, at Staab Polk Memorial Home, Chatham, with Fr. John Nolan, officiating. Burial on Thursday, at Chatham Memorial Cemetery.
