

Daniel R. Freeman, 65, of Chatham, formerly of Athens, died Thursday May 27, 2010 at Memorial Medical Center.
He was born in Springfield, March 2, 1945 the son of Roy and Virginia Tumulty Freeman, they preceded him in death. He served his country in the United States Air Force. He married Deborah Bartolomucci May 14, 1983 and she survives.
Daniel retired as a Technical Manager for the Illinois Department of Transportation. He was a member of the 128th Volunteer Infantry, an avid golfer and member of various leagues. He was also an outdoorsman enjoying hunting and fishing, and a very accomplished woodworker known for his beautiful furniture.
In addition to his wife Deborah, he is also survived by his six children; Melissa (Michael) Paoni of Athens, IL, Christina (Chad Huggins) Freeman, of Chicago, Troy Daniel (Billie Jarvis) Freeman of Springfield, Brett Freeman, Erin Freeman, and Brenna Freeman all of Chatham, two grandchildren, and expecting a third; Ariel Lynn Dohm of Carlinville, IL, Devin Paoni of Athens, and Virginia Freeman due to arrive October 1, 2010, six sisters; Judy Mogle, Martha Freeman, Annie McCurley, Amy Gentry, and Mary Vincent, all of Athens, and Debbie Richter of Springfield, his brother, Zachary Freeman of Athens, and several nieces, nephews and cousins, including Jim Freeman of Springfield.
Cremation rites will be accorded by the Bisch Crematory.
A memorial gathering will be on Saturday May 29, 2010 from 9:00 AM until time of a memorial service at 11:00 AM at the Bisch Funeral Home West 2931 S. Koke Mill Rd., Springfield with Rev. Chase Newingham officiating. Inurnment will be private at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, those that wish may direct memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society or a charity of the donor’s choice.
