

David A. Dufer, Jr., of Melbourne Beach, FL, passed away on February 21, 2008, at Holmes Regional Medical Center. David was born on May 28, 1949 in Springfield, IL, the son of David A. and Betty J. Dufer Sr. He later married Raye-Ann Kikwe-Matsumura. David retired from the United States Army as a Master Sergeant having served two tours in Vietnam and earning the Purple Heart as well as other citations. He was currently employed by Transcor as a Prisoner Transport Officer. David was a loving husband, father, son, and brother, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He is preceded in death by his father David A. Dufer, Sr in 1998. David is survived by his wife Raye-Ann Dufer of Melbourne Beach, FL; his children David (wife Miriam) Dufer of Korea, Betty Dufer of Dixon, MO, and Pamela Durben of Connecticut; his mother Betty J. Dufer of Springfield; his brothers and sisters Suzanne (husband, Larry) Graves of St. Charles, MO, Crystal (husband Juan) Estrada of Kennedy , TX, Charlene (husband Bill)Young of Crossville, TN, Mike (wife Anne) Dufer of Olympia, WA, Fred (wife Kathy) Dufer of Springfield, Margaret Dufer of Springfield, Renee Dufer of Williamsville, and Donald Dufer of Springfield; as well grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his special dog Dumper Family will receive friends for a visitation from 4:00- 7:00 pm on Wednesday, February 27, 2008, at Kirlin- Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Following visitation cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center. Graveside ceremonies will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, February 28, 2008 at Camp Butler National Cemetery with the Interveterans Burial Detail of Macon County and the United States Army providing military honors. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County, 913 Westview Dr., Springfield, IL 62704.
