David Joseph Shaw

David Joseph Shaw, 64, of Springfield, passed away at 1:40 p.m. Wednesday, August 28, 2002 at his residence. David was born November 3, 1937 the son of Harry F. and Winnie Egan Shaw in Springfield. He married Shirley E. Edwards on January 15, 1960 at the Church of the Little Flower Catholic Church. He was co-owner of Shaw Insurance Agency in Springfield and a retired Captain of the Springfield Fire Department. He was also a United States Airforce veteran serving from 1955-1959. David was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and the Elks Lodge 158. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching sports, especially football. He is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; one sister and an infant son. He is survived by his wife: Shirley of Springfield; a son: Kenneth (wife, Joy) Shaw of Edwardsville; a daughter: Lynette Shaw of Springfield; one granddaughter: Samantha Shaw of Edwardsville; mother-in-law: Edna Carnahan of Springfield; several nieces nephews, cousins, great nieces, great nephews, one great great niece and one great great nephew. Friends may call at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home from 9-10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 31, 2002. Memorial services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 31, 2002 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home with the Very Reverend Kevin Vann officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
