David H. Smith

David H. Smith, 63, of Rochester, died at 11:02 p.m. Wednesday, June 2, 2004 at General Hospital in Marquette, MI. David was born April 4, 1941 in Billings, Montana, the son of Harold and Sylvia Merritt Smith. He married Judith Freedlund on March 21, 1970 in Batavia, IL. Mr. Smith was a graduate of Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, MI and was employed by the State of Illinois Department of Public Aid retiring from there in December of 2002. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Sylvia Veis He is survived by his wife, Judith of Rochester; two sons: Derek (wife, Rachel) Smith of Pawnee and Keith David Smith of Rochester; grandson, Devin Scott Smith of Pawnee; one brother, Richard (wife, Phyllis) Smith of Billings, Montana; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 4 – 8:00 p.m. on Tues., June 8, 2004 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on June 9, 2004 at Grace United Methodist Church with Rev. Sylvester Weatherall, Rev. William Burton and Rev. Robert Freeman officiating. Cremation will follow at the Cremation Tribute Center. Memorial contributions may be Grace United Methodist Church, 1612 E.
