Denise Humphrey

Denise Humphrey, of Springfield, died at 4:15 p.m. on Friday, August 26, 2016 at Memorial Medical Center. Denise was born January 21, 1942 in Chicago, the daughter of Joseph and Mary Arp Coleman. She married John Edward Humphrey on August 1, 1964 in Chicago; he preceded her in death on January 22, 2001. Denise earned her associate's degree from Lincoln Land Community College and retired from City Water Light & Power as an Account Specialist. She enjoyed gardening, puzzles, playing bridge and other card games. She was also preceded in death by her father, Joseph Coleman. She is survived by her sons, Jay (wife, Anne) Humphrey of Flossmoor, IL and Jerrod (wife, Melissa) Humphrey of Springfield; daughters, Danielle (husband, Paul) Williams of Heyworth and Nicole (husband, Otto) Peyton of Auburn; grandchildren, Allie, Joey and Jimmy Humphrey, Taylor and Alexandra Williams, Damian and Christian Peyton, and Joe, Tom, Alex, Max, and Liliana Humphrey; great-grandchild, Dylan Peyton; mother, Mary Coleman of Oak Lawn; brother, Terry (wife, Carol) Coleman of Indian Head Park, IL; and two nieces. Private family ceremonies were held. The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. David Lieber, Dr. David Crabtree, and the staff at Memorial Medical Center, for their kindness and compassion while taking care of Denise.
